Anne "Nancy" Mayer

Anne "Nancy" Mayer nee Hehir, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 28, 2024. She was a native of Feighroe, Connolly, in County Clare, Ireland.

Nancy was the youngest daughter of John and Ellen nee Carmody Hehir. Nancy immigrated to the United States in 1956, joining her older sisters in Chicago. In 1959, she married the love of her life Albert, and this year celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Nancy loved entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed knitting, making Irish Soda Bread and preparing large holiday meals. Her love of Irish music and dance has carried on through her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert (11/11/2024), her daughter Dymphna, her parents, John and Ellen Hehir, her brothers John (the late Maura) Hehir, and James (Bridie) Hehir, her sisters Bridget (the late John) Lynch, Margaret (the late Joseph) Hayes, Mary Ellen (the late John) Fahy, Catherine Hehir, Nora (the late Patrick) McMahon and her daughter-in-law Victoria Mayer nee Thompson.

Nancy is survived by her children John (the late Victoria), Mary (Paul) Mayer-McHugh, Paul (Kate) and Julie (Mark) Ciesla, her grandchildren Molly McHugh, Patrick McHugh, Owen (Stephanie) Mayer, Stephen McHugh, Olivia (Patrick) Wetzel, Eva Mayer, Sean Mayer, Neil Mayer, Isabella Ciesla, Ryan Mayer and Thomas Ciesla, and great grandchildren, Liam, Elle, Leo, Finn, and Conor and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation Monday, December 2, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, Heneghan-Suerth Directors, 6250 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago. Family and friends will meet at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 3rd at Immaculate Conception Church for 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass. Graveside interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
