Catherine Josephine Doherty, nee Madden, resident of Lisle, passed away on April 29. 2018 at the age of 83.  A dedicated sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Catherine was beloved by everyone she encountered.

Born as the youngest of eight children on March 12, 1935 to Norah and Patrick Madden in Mount Daisy, Co Mayo, Ireland, Catherine was affectionally known as “Josie” as a girl. Catherine later emigrated to Chicago in 1953 at only 17 years old. She settled in South Holland with her husband William to raise their family. Catherine is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, William; her precious children MaryLynn (Joseph) Zajdel, Brian (Barbara), Eileen (Eric) Fudala, Neil (Janet); and her adoring grandchildren Claire & Grace Zajdel; Kevin, Kristin & Michael Doherty; Bridget & Hannah Fudala; Julia, Dan & Colin Doherty. She was youngest daughter of the Madden family, sister to Mary, John, Bridie, Nora, Michael, Patrick and Rita.

Visitation Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Blake-Lamb Funeral Home,  5015 Lincoln Ave., Lisle, IL 60532 from 6-9 PM.   In state Wednesday, 10:00 AM at Villa St. Benedict Chapel, 1920 Maple Avenue, Lisle, IL 60532 until time of Mass 11:00 AM.  Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL Thursday, 11:00 AM.

She will be remembered for her spunk, wit and energy and her unparalleled devotion to her loved ones. Catherine’s strength of character and faith was an inspiration to those around her and will carry on in the spirit of those whom she touched.
