John Patrick Callaghan

John Patrick Callaghan was born in Akron, Ohio to Mary Theresa Mangan and John Francis Callaghan on May 29, 1939. After his loving mother passed away when he was two years old, his father decided to join family in Chicago where John grew up with his dear cousins, Jack, Gerry, Pete and Joe Joyce. After high school, he was a USMC Reservist. He was devoted to the late Margaret Mary Kelly who passed away January 30,2023, they married in 1967 on the Northwest side where they raised their sons, John (Michelle,) and Lance (Shawndra.) He took pride in being a doting grandfather to Ryan, Katie and Cain, a loving Uncle and a loyal friend to many. John loved to reminisce and was a great storyteller with a hearty laugh and a gift for humor. A man of deep faith, he enjoyed the community of St, Robert Bellarmine Parish throughout his lifetime. He relocated with his loving wife Margaret to Naples,Florida last year, where they enjoyed the warmth and sunsets from the lanai. He passed away peacefully, Saturday March 4th, in Naples, and will be remembered with love. A private Memorial Mass will be held this summer, in Chicago. 

Entombment will take place at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls @mercyhome.org
