Lawrence William Ebbitt was born to the late Viola Katherine Tilts Ebbitt and the late Lawrence Ignatius Ebbitt on November 20, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York. He passed away February 14, 2023 in Lincolnwood, Illinois. He was 84 years old.
Larry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. After his service in the US Air Force, he attended Brooklyn College where he met Connie. They were soon married and started a family, making their home in Brooklyn, New York. After a long career as a geologist for the City of New York, Larry retired with Connie to Port St. Lucie, Florida where he resided for the last 25 years. He enjoyed many hobbies including reading, photography, painting and travel. He volunteered throughout his life, remaining active at church and in his community. Larry was never without a story to tell.
Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and took great joy in watching it grow. He maintained a keen interest in his grandchildren's academic and career development. He expressed great pride in their successes as he valued intellectual achievement and family life.
Larry was the devoted husband to his wife, Concetta "Connie" who passed away in 2016. He is survived by his sons: Gerard (Andrea) Ebbitt and John (Clare) Ebbitt. His grandchildren: Michael, Samuel, Anna, Grace and Jane Ebbitt; his brother; George (Jean) Ebbitt.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated, Thursday, February 23, 2023 at St. Juliana Catholic Church, 7201 N. Oketo Avenue (at Touhy) Chicago. Family and friends will be gathering at 10:30 am until time of Mass at 11:30 am.
