Marlene Martha Becker, nee Schultz, born in Chicago on April 22, 1939 peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025 in Niles, IL. She was with her loving, life partner Edward “Chip” Beatty in their home after a brief time in hospice care.
Daughter of the late Wanda and Walter and sister to the late Arthur and Wally Jr. Schultz. Marlene was a kind aunt, dear friend and good neighbor. Her generosity was boundless and her talents many including; cooking, baking, crafting, floral arranging, and playing the accordion. She enjoyed bowling, movies and playing games especially cards. Some of her favorite places to travel were Disney World and Las Vegas.
Marlene worked as a medical transcriptionist for most of her career in addition to a brief time in real estate. Her favorite part of working was the relationships she formed with coworkers. She was a woman of faith who graduated class president from St. Michaels High School and then studied drama at the University of Illinois before marrying Ed Becker.
Marlene is survived by her four children; Stephen Becker (Sharlene), Lisa Presmyk (Alan Tonelli), Michael Becker (Sadie), and Sharon Bittle. Along with Chip’s three children; Jill (Ray Stone), Ed (Gail) Beatty, and Jim Beatty. She was Grandma to sixteen; James, Dylan, Phillip, Justin and David Becker, Kelly Cockerill, Stephanie Hotard, Nolan Presmyk, Chris and Alex Bittle. Jake, Sara, Iain Beatty and Jessica, Emily, Tyler, Stone. She was known as “Grandma-Lene” by seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026 at Colonial-Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Heneghan-Suerth Directors, 6250 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago.
