Beloved husband of  Colleen nee Carney. Loving father of Matt, Fort Dodge, IA FD (Brittany). Very proud grandfather of Merlin. Loving step-father of Brian (Claudia) Godawa, Sarah Godawa (Ryan Morris) and step-grandfather of Beau and Bella. Dear son of Geraldine and the late Merlin, CFD. Loving brother of Jim (Nancy). Dear uncle of Kristin, Joe (Aly) and great-uncle of Blair. Loving son-in-law of Patricia Carney. Dear friend and neighbor of many.

Steve was a well respected and proud firefighter for over 30 years, especially to his beloved crew on 1st shift at Engine Co. 71 in the West Ridge Neighborhood.

Visitation 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Coloinal Funeral Home, Heneghan-Suerth Directors, 6250 N. Milwaukee Ave. Chicago. Funeral Friday 9:00 a.m. start at the funeral home proceeding to St. Paul Lutheran Church 5650 N. Canfield Chicago.
