Walter Strankowski, a lifelong resident of the Norwood Park Neighborhood of Chicago, passed away at age 72 with his loving wife, Pearl, by his side. He was the beloved son of Walter and Violet Strankowski, dear brother of the late Susan Fuller, and cherished uncle of Michelle (Bill) de Beaubien, Robert (Laurie) Walscheid, and Pamela (Nick) Countouris.
Wally was best known for both his witty, lighthearted humor and for the love and life he shared with Pearl. He enjoyed fishing and boating at their Michigan vacation home where they spent much of their time together.
He was well known for the amount of time he would spend at stores like Toys-R-Us looking for the perfect gifts for his nieces and nephew (though everyone knew he was just having fun playing with everything in the store). This earned Wally the title "Toys-R-Us Kid" within the family.
Family and friends will meet Monday, May 8th, in the chapel of Ascension Living Saint Benedicts Village , 6930 West Touhy Ave, Niles, IL 60714 for a memorial visitation from 10am until time of funeral Mass at 11am. Interment private Memorials may be made in Walter's name to Ascension Living Saint Benedicts Village.
